MINUTES OF A MEETING HELD AT RAGLAN COMMUNITY CENTRE

Tuesday 24th April 2007 at 8.00p.m.

Present : Mesdames Margaret Lawrence, Lisa Ridgeway, Amanda Vaughan, Joan Barrington, Myrna Thomas, Beverley Turner, Janet Thomas.

The chairman, Mr. T. Phillips welcomed members to the meeting.

 

The minutes of the meeting held on the 16th January 2007 were agreed by the committee and signed by the chairman.

Matters Arising.

Progress Reports

            M.U.G.A. Andy Keep and Mike Moran are due to address the Community Council meeting on the 25th April 2007. The chairman of ‘One Voice Wales’ is also coming to find out what has happened to the money and interest on the 106 money. If no progress has been made, the ombudsman is to be approached. There is still no report in planning.

            Village Hall There is still no progress but it was agreed to give the council a few more weeks before chasing as it will then be the start of a new financial year.

             

Fund Raising

            Car Boot Sales The first of these will be held on the 13th May. There are 4 groups interested in supporting the event, Scouts, village Hall, Raglan in Bloom and the Brownies. It was agreed that all monies be split equally between these groups. Steve Thomas will be in charge of advertising for the event. The charge will be £5 for a car, £6 for a car + trailer and £7 for a van. The entrance for the public will be free.

It is hoped to organise a burger van with a possible donation.

The car boot sale will be held every week for 21 weeks at 2.00p.m. on the sportsfield.

The Sports Association has asked for a donation for the use of the field.

The Village Hall Association dates are the 27th May, 24th June, 22nd July, 19th August and the 16th September. At least 4 people will be need from 1.00p.m. on these dates to help set up.

            Raglan Day This has been moved back to the Bank Holiday on the 27th August.

Raglan Football Club have offered to organise a 5-aside football tournament for the day and would like a donation for a cup to present to the winning team. Amanda Vaughan is to follow this up. It was agreed to pay £25 to promate Raglan Day in the Football programme.

 

News Letter Shirley Hughes is to organise the delivery of the first edition is to every resident in Raglan.

Cinema The Beaufort is not a suitable venue as there is no wheelchair access. The Chapel are hoping to have blackout curtains soon, so that could be a suitable summer venue. Shreck III is due out on 29th June and could prove a good film for the children.
